Open Reduction and Internal Fixation of an Open Ankle Fracture with Syndesmotic Injury Fixed with a Suture Button Device

We present a case of an open ankle fracture that includes irrigation and debridement of the open wound, open reduction and internal fixation of the fibula and the use of a suture button device to stabilize a syndesmotic injury. Initial injury radiographs are shown and the acute ED management described. The surgical treatment strategy is explained with discussion regarding alternative options as well as outcomes. Six week follow up films are included.
