Mark Hake, Jacob M. Kirsch

This case presentation and surgical technique highlights the role of hook plate fixation for distal clavicle fractures. We address the indications and decision making process for this technique, as well as the outcomes that support its use. Specifically, Type 2 distal clavicle fractures are associated with high rates of nonunion if treated non-operatively. Currently, several surgical options exist for treating these fractures, with none being unanimously superior. Hook plate fixation is a reliable technique which has been associated with excellent functional outcomes and high rates of osseous union.
