Exposures Upper/Humerus - Posterior: Approach to the Humerus

This video discusses humerus posterior approach for the management of humeral shaft fracture. Following the skin incision triceps fascia is identified and the deep surgical dissection is done to split the triceps fascia in the line of incision. Dissection is done cautiously while dissecting proximally to prevent damage to the radial nerve. Radial nerve is mobilized and protected. Complete dissection is done from the radial nerve posteriorly and to the olecranon fascia distally. Plate fixation is done proximal to the radial nerve and the wound is irrigated.
