Exposures Upper/Deltopectoral Approach: Approach

This video illustrates anterior shoulder (Deltopectoral) approach which is used for almost all proximal humeral fracture management and it is the most preferred approach. Long skin incision between the coracoid process and the proximal humeral shaft is made. The deltopectoral groove with the cephalic vein is exposed, the coracoid process and the conjoined tendon are identified, and the proximal humerus is exposed. The anatomical landmarks (subscapularis tendon, lesser tuberosity, bicipital groove with the bicipital tendon and the greater tuberosity) are confirmed.
